The Poor Carnation

Carnations were one of my first loves.
I love the delicate, sweet fragrance of cloves,
the longevity, the colors.
Especially the deep, deep purples and lime greens,
and, yes, white just might be my favorite.
The poor carnation. Such a bad rap. They just got overused...sold on every street corner, grocery store and used everywhere.
They were designed poorly, just poked in here and
there just to take up space.
Then, they got shoved aside without even knowing what it was they did wrong.
When I opened my second shop, 20 years after the first, I became a carnation snob.
My rule was...no carnations..they are a "special order".
But, how could I turn my back on my old faithful
friends? I love the carnation designed in a mass
and all one shade. Lush.
I am so enjoying creating clean, sleek, modern designs with them. I love to present a showy carnation piece
and hear the comments from my customers,"I don't
normally like carnations, but, that is really, really
cool."

A thought on wedding flowers...
Many brides are on a big time budget this year. Still are getting married, but choosing
to do much of the wedding themselves, or with the help of friends.
Here are some reasons to consider hiring a professional florist.

From Bride & Bloom
http://72.167.202.151/index.php?page...loral-designer

They’re professionals – No matter how many books you read on DIY floral design, it’s really no substitute for years of professional experience. Floral designers know what flowers will be in season on your wedding date, they know which will hold up best in the heat or in the cold, they know the latest color palettes and design trends, and most importantly, they can design in an artistic manner that is hard to achieve as an amateur.

They’re relievers of stress – Do you really want to worry about crafting bouquets for all six of your bridesmaids, not to mention all those little boutonnieres? And those sky-scraping, architectural centerpieces you had imagined? They don’t seem like such a piece of cake when you’re trying to entertain your out-of-town guests. Hiring a floral designer allows you to entertain, have some fun, and even relax a little.

They’re stage-setters – A good floral designer will have everything set up before your guests even arrive. This is something that’s hard to do on your own. Usually, designers have an experienced team that helps set everything up. You could attempt to recruit your own team, but who knows how many friends and family members will be able to help you set up? And, do you really want to put that burden on the people closest to you? Your wedding should be a day everyone – including yourself – can enjoy.
